It'll be a week since we've been home tomorrow. It's been a chaotic and busy one! I thought I'd get bored and stir crazy not working, but so far..that's not been much of an issue! LOL I easily have a long enough list to keep me busy the next few weeks! after that tho...it'll drag... I still miss being out and in a routine outside the home. And now I shouldn't have any issues with doing the summer school work she has to do from all the missed school and not getting work sent with her in all but one of her absents from school these past 5 months too! Well, most of it I shouldn't have issues working with her on....math....that's changed alot! and with her learning issues and developmental delays it makes it 10x harder...but we'll do what we can! There's a bit of a silver lining there; I was panicking before trying to figure out when and where I'd find the time after work to work with her on summer school stuff or in hiring someone to tutor her which I couldn't afford, but now we have time! lol
So far Phoenix has done fairly well since being home, only a few complaints of pain requiring tylenol :) She really amazes me her tolerance for pain and how she just bounces back acting like nothing is wrong! We've done a few experiments with blending foods and making for the blender meals as well. Some successes and some...not so much ones...LOL She tried pizza blended tho! We added milk and Parmesan Cesar dressing and blended it up to a thick cream so could try to spoon and squish thru to the back of her teeth and into her mouth! lol She actually liked it too! We tried a "french toast" smoothie recipe, and it's pretty much adding the ingredients, including a cooked egg and toasted bread into the blender, and she said it tasted just like french toast! We've of course done a ton with fruits and yogurts, and peanut butter, and ice cream smoothies! With adding in coconut oil and flax seeds as extra healthy fats and calories :) Her favorite breakfast was when we grabbed an oatmeal from tim hortons and blended it up with more milk tho! We tried alphabet soup too, she actually like that blended up too! haha She wasn't a huge fan at my attempt of caramel apples in the blender....lol! Or the super healthy recipes I found for avocado crab soup! Thought she would love it as that's her favorite, seafood and veggies! But wrong veggies I guess?? haha It was what the dietitian wanted to see her getting in her diet tho, I was trying to follow her instructions and plans...all the healthy high fats and calories so she doesn't loose too much more weight being on a liquid diet!
We did a tally of what she drinks in ensures in a day and their calorie content....she consumes with those alone on average 3550 calories a day! I was pretty close to my estimate before that she takes in about 4000 calories a day to maintain her weight (78lbs and nearly 5 ft) before this accident! She's always been a voracious, bottomless pit!! lol Now ppl can really understand my grocery bills!! lol
We have had continuing issues with bowels since hospital...and being off antibiotics hasn't helped that. We had done her blood works last wednesday as well, and her tacrolimus levels were very high again, so they cut the dosage in half and we will redo the bloodworks tomorrow. Hopefully that's helped. They think her tummy issues could be the issue. But I wonder if it's the liquid diet and her body absorbing it differently because of that, in combination with being on the liquid form of her meds, not the capsules right now as there is no way to get pills in but to change to liquids the ones we can, and crush and melt in water the others. A bit of a pain now after being so used to myself having all her pills predrawn up for her, which I always tried to draw them up with 2 week supplies on hand in case of emergencies etc. I'm hoping the levels have evened out....and once she can take pills again it'll be an easy transition on her body. She has 50 ML of one medication to take 2x a day...thank god she is so good about literally taking a small bottle and putting a straw in it and sucking it up!
She hates the new form of cleaning her teeth/mouth as well. She is unable to brush her teeth. So they said to alternate several times a day a peroxide rinse with water and a lemon juice with water. She is not a fan! lol I also got these small bristle brushes for flossing, but we use them to help get the thicker stuff, seeds etc out from around the metal and wires in the front part of her mouth :) We're trying to save those teeth best we can! lol
It's been hard, even in the house so much trying to keep her resting, not talking so much, and NOT running or bouncing around! LOL My energetic child feels fairly well despite the damage (tho sleeping 12 hours or more and often till noon is unusual, but needed) with things held so immobile right now, but fails to realize bones need alot of time to heal securely and definitely cannot handle a fall or bump right now, like the drs said, especially with how unstable her chin is with the split in it. It'll be a long healing process for her....Tho I am so happy and proud of how positive she has remained!
Tomorrow we will be going to calgary for her hearing test....I'm really really hoping there is good news, that her hearing in that one ear will return....that this isn't permanent.... fingers crossed her luck changes from here xx
