We are still in the wait and see mode...
They can't figure out what could be causing the bowel issues for her and the only thing to do is watch it until it either goes away or manifests into something more. She's been given cream for the blistered/burned skin, and pills to help with the intense cramping that causes her to cry and have severe nausea. Which has worked wonderfully for that and her eating has finally remained consistent, which is good because in weighing her in this morning she has lost 2 lbs. Not surprising considering she's in the bathroom up to 15 times a day though. But there is nothing to do to help otherwise... only hope it resolves itself somehow.
I've switched her diet to the BRATTY diet I found online for those with chronic bowel issues...even tho hers isn't diarrhea all the time, it's the best thing I could come across... and it just has her eat alot of banana's, rice, applesauce, tea (no herbal for her tho) toast and yogurt. Lots of probiotics, and I've added in protein with eggs, chicken and peanut butter so she's not starving and lacking nutrients either. But staying away from sugars, fats, grease, and acidic fruits. So far it hasn't helped with frequency too much....but hopefully after a couple days it will or she will start getting better on her own.
At least she was, until this evening, pain free in the chest drain area after capping the drain yesterday. I plan on going back to work tomorrow and having my mom come over and watch Feeny until she's able to go back to school. BUT of course things always work against me.... I was changing her dressing bandages this evening after I gave her a shower, and sure enough there is swelling and pain under the skin around it again just like last week indicating bile build up. And when I tried to remove the gauze somehow in the 24 hrs since the last change the skin had grown into the netting like material of the gauze, I had to cut it out and rip alot of skin causing it to bleed like a fresh wound :( It was quite painful for her.... and of course afterwards she started having severe pain and was unable to stand up straight or lay flat without the sharp intense pain.... I give up? lol I'm still going to have to go to work tomorrow...I can't keep being gone so much and working only a few days out of a month... If she worsen's considerably obviously I'll have to cancel, but edmonton has to work with me and return my calls this time and see her, as I haven't heard from them since monday morning before capping the drain, not even after when I left them a message with an update from our family doctor.
